You may have noticed that Instagram, one Facebook’s most recent acquisitions have released a new video feature to its internationally popular photo social media platform. Instagram is popular with both individuals and brands as a way to connect and share content. Instagram was bought out by Facebook in April 2012 for an astonishing $1 billion and since then there have been no major changes to the platform other than a recent attempt to change the terms and conditions to its service which was swiftly met with great outrage by Instagram users and back shelved.

The new video feature on Instagram will allow users to record short video clips up to 15 seconds in length to share with other users. There are a range of thirteen filters to choose from to enhance your video content as well as the functionality to choose your favourite clip for the cover image of the video.

Many Nigerian brands and celebrities use Instagram as a way to showcase their products or to connect with their prospective customers on a more sociable, personal level, giving a glimpse of their day-to-day lives. Nigerian music moguls Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage are both avid Instagram users, giving us behind the scenes access to their lives.
